ELM TREE FARM
Research Aim: To engage with the staff and service users at Elm Tree Farm to produce a strategic proposal for the site which creates links between the current and future projects along with the local community. These will support future funding applications and developments of the site.

Brandon trust are expanding the existing services offered at Elm Tree Farm and require new development and renovation works to support these proposals. We defined our brief to provide a strategic masterplan for the overall site, a detailed proposal for the nursery garden funding application and an aspirational vision for a new social hub. A collaborative consultation process informed the development of the design. We participated in volunteering on the farm in order to observe how the current site works and how activities are undertaken. This also gave us an opportunity to talk to the staff and listen to their ideas on how the site could be improved. At the farm shop opening, we engaged with the public to spread awareness of the proposed development and learn of the services that they would like to see. The final proposal responds to the feedback and suggestions discussed during these engagement activities to produce a strategic design which offers the flexibility of future phased development of the site.
